July 22: The Missing Middle

GSMP and the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce will be hosting THE MISSING MIDDLE, a conversation about the current housing industry in light of supply chain shortages and unprecedented demand in our region. Featured speakers will include Andy Alarcón VP, Austin Habitat for Humanity; Abby Gillfillan Planner, Lionheart Places LLC; Terry Mitchell President, Momark Development; and Brooke Spruiell, President of Magnolia Appraisal Services. These speakers will give insight on how industry leaders are responding to these challenges and what the future of residential housing looks like in the Texas Innovation Corridor. August 10: Innovation Summit

The Greater San Marcos Partnership presents the seventh annual Greater San Marcos Innovation Summit. Companies across Hays and Caldwell Counties are developing creative, innovative solutions in the products and services developed right here in the Texas Innovation Corridor. At this Summit, come learn about - and celebrate! - how our region is improving the quality of life for consumers everywhere through these new innovations. Lunch will be provided for those attending in-person.

We will also be joined by a panel of experts representing three new, dynamic companies that are disrupting industries throughout our region: Iron Ox, Sempulse and goodblend™ Texas.

September 15: State of Workforce & Education Summit

The continued economic growth of our region is primarily dependent on how well we are preparing our future workforce. On Wednesday, September 15, the Greater San Marcos Partnership (GSMP) and the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce will host the State of Workforce & Education Summit 2021 in-person at the San Marcos Conference Center at Embassy Suites.

The Summit will showcase the workforce preparation happening right here in the Texas Innovation Corridor at our K-12 school districts, community colleges, trade schools, universities, and more. Dr. Denise Trauth, President of Texas State University, will give the State of Texas State address at this event. We will also hear from Career and Technical Education experts from our region, as well as students, faculty and administrators from across Hays and Caldwell Counties.

This half-day event is expecting to draw approximately 200+ community leaders, representing businesses, education, and government (city, county, state) in the Texas Innovation Corridor. Sponsorships are available now. Sponsorships range from $1,000 (Bronze Sponsorship) to $7,500 (Title Sponsorship). Our Title Sponsor and Gold Sponsors will receive the added benefit of being named as the founding organizations of the Texas Innovation Corridor Scholarship Fund. The first scholarship will awarded at the 2022 event.

March 30th: Get HIRED! Job & Education Fair

COVID-19 disproportionately displaced workers from the hospitality, retail and leisure sectors of our local economy. As a response to this, the Greater San Marcos Partnership (GSMP) hosted the Spring 2021 Get Hired! Job & Education Fair to help those looking for work and new job opportunities. Eighteen organizations Employers and organizations with vacant jobs and new industry training opportunities are eligible to come to the event. 

March 9th: Booster Business Series, Session 1
The topic for March was "Cybersecurity for Business." This 55 minute webinar will help you identify and protect your digital assets, recover normal operations, detect incidents, and respond to cybersecurity attacks with a formal plan. It is presented by Kristin Wheatley, Principal Engineer, Southwest Research Institute. The session is sponsored by GSMP and co-hosted by the Chambers of Commerce in Hays County. February 25th: 2021 Transportation Summit

Join GSMP and the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce as business and public-sector leaders come together to address the region's path forward on transportation issues. Leaders will take an in-depth look at the challenges and opportunities that face San Marcos transportation systems today and into the next 20 years.

February 11th: A Conversation with Judges Becerra & Haden
The Hon. Ruben Becerra of Hays County and the Hon. Hoppy Haden of Caldwell County had a discussion with GSMP president Jason Giulietti regarding economic development and upcoming plans for their counties.

Dec 2, 2020: Meet The GSMP Team

The Greater San Marcos Partnership (GSMP) hosted a public event to meet its team. The one-hour virtual session shared insights on how GSMP operates and facilitates the creation of new good paying jobs for Hays and Caldwell Counties.

November 12th: 2020 Greater San Marcos Economic Outlook

Our region has received national attention for its growth and transformation. Forbes has called our region “America’s Next Great Metropolis. Considering the implications of COVID-19 and the outcome of the presidential election, will the region continue its growth trajectory?

Join the Greater San Marcos Partnership in person or virtually as we examine the data, issues, and strategies that will impact the economy in the heart of the Texas Innovation Corridor.

Our keynote speaker, Charles Dougherty, is a vice president & economist with Wells Fargo Securities. He covers the commercial real estate, housing, and construction sectors of U.S. regional and macro economy. Charles’ commentary has been featured in Bloomberg News and The Washington Post.

We will also feature Adrianna Cruz from the Office of Governor Greg Abbott, who will provide insights on the Texas economy looking toward fiscal year 2021, and a panel of local experts who will discuss the economic outlook of real estate in the Greater San Marcos region.

August 20th: GSMP EVENT: A Discussion on COVID-19 & the Economy with Judge Ruben Becerra & Judge Hoppy Haden

The Greater San Marcos Partnership (GSMP) featured Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra and Caldwell County Judge Hoppy Haden together for a virtual discussion about the current state of the region. Topics included insights into the regional economy amid the COVID-19 environment and the future of economic development in the Greater San Marcos region. A Q&A session followed their remarks. August 5th: Resources for Recovery Webinar 4: Creative Capacity-Building

Topic: Resources available from investors, financiers, co-working spaces, and more

Session Description: This webinar session will feature Ms. Carina Boston Pinales, co-owner of Splash Coworking, a visionary at navigating processes and tools to optimize the people side of change. Session Description: Session 2 will bring valuable information on Small Business Development Center and SCORE assistance, funding available through CDFIs like LiftFund and PeopleFund and Dr. Cara DiMattina Ryan will share how the Texas Workforce Commission can support your business resiliency.



July 15th: Resources for Recovery Webinar 1: Critical Needs of Businesses in Recovery

Topic: Resources available from the Governor’s Office, SBA, and Workforce Solutions
Day/Time:  Wednesday, July 15, 11:00 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. 

Session Description: Your business has survived five long months, but recovery is not complete. Join our speakers as they share valuable resources for today's COVID environment: Ms. Kelly Spillane, Small Business Advocate from the Office of Governor Greg Abbott will share an update on Texas resources. Additionally, the Small Business Development Center will provide an update on federal funds and the Texas Workforce Commission will be able to cover hiring resources and answer such questions as employer obligations for returning furloughed employees, meeting PPP forgiveness obligations, filling position openings and other workforce issues.

2nd Annual Education Summit

Throughout the month of November, GSMP and the regional Chambers of Commerce hosted tours of the Independent School Districts throughout the region for an in-depth look at what our future workforce is learning. The event featured a Keynote Presentation by the Founder of E3 Alliance, Susan Dawson, and concluded with a panel of superintendents from San Marcos CISD, Hays CISD, Dripping Springs ISD, Lockhart ISD, and Luling ISD. 

6th Annual Innovation Summit 

Governor Greg Abbott welcomed attendees to the Texas Innovation Corridor, Dr. Denise Truath delivered the State of Texas State University and we discovered what it takes to disrupt an industry from a panel of innovators who lead companies in the region. Then, we recognized an innovative company with the Burdick Award for Innovation.
