Who We Are:

The Greater San Marcos Partnership (GSMP) is the regional economic development corporation that was established in 2010 to encourage and nurture economic growth in the fast-growing Innovation Corridor between Austin and San Antonio, Texas. Our service area includes the City of San Marcos, and all of Hays and Caldwell Counties. Our mission is to enhance and diversify our area economy through business attraction, retention, workforce development, and marketing as defined in our five-year strategy, Vision 2025. GSMP promotes the region around the U.S. and internationally to attract high quality companies in addition to working with our existing companies through an active business retention and expansion program.

They will also develop important skills and experience as they work on the planning, development, and implementation of projects identified in GSMP’s Vision 2025. The Economic Development Intern will also gain professional and personal experience while engaging in the community at large. The Intern will attend GSMP events—such as Innovation Summit and Economic Outlook—as well as professional networking events and informal social opportunities taking place in the Region.

The goal is for the intern to gain a holistic and authentic experience working for and serving in a diverse community. The Economic Development Internship is ideal for undergraduate and graduate students (currently enrolled or recently graduated) seeking careers in city planning/management, policy & politics, economic & community development, urban development or real estate. The program is designed for ambitious individuals seeking not only to build a strong resume, but also to make an impact on the community as they further develop important skills critical to a successful career.
