SXSW 2018: Telling the Greater San Marcos Story to the World

The 2018 SXSW Trade Show is now complete! Throughout the week, we have enjoyed telling our regional story and promoting #SouthOfSX to an international audience. We were glad to have the San Marcos and Dripping Springs CVBs help us out on day three and four. Sarah Smith and Hope Bolton brought their unique viewpoints to the tradeshow attendees and couraged passersby to contribute to our regional art pieces.

We were lucky to have the Lockhart Arts and Crafts String Art, which drew in the more hands-on crowd. Sara Barr and Layne Tanner inspired us to get creative and think "outside the lines" so to speak,  showcase our creative class, and focused (literally) on the heart of Texas.

GSMP President Adriana Cruz interviewed with Cheddar's Alex Heath, which aired earlier in the week. They talked tech hubs, economic development in Texas, and the future of the Austin-San Antonio Innovation Corridor. Watch the story here

Jimmy Maas from KUT Radio in Austin stopped by the Greater San Marcos booth to highlight the neighboring communities around the big city. In the article Austin Suburbs Use SXSW to Promote Moving South and Southeast, our very own Ashley Gossen was interviewd on the benefit of moving just 25 minutes out of the city. The final day of the SXSW Trade Show fell on March 14th, otherwise known as "Pi Day" (3.14). Seizing this unique opportunity, we hosted Kyle's imfamous Texas Pie Company for "Pi Day with Pies from the Pie Capital of Texas!" It was a great hit, and people kept coming back for more.

Thank you to all volunteers and supporters for helping us at the Trade Show this week. We enjoyed being continually inspired by other regions as well, and we feel as though the #SouthOfSX presence at the 2018 SXSW Trade Show was once again a huge success. We look forward to making next year even better still!
