SXSW Day Two Wrap Up
South By Southwest Interactive Trade Show Day Two is now behind Team GSMP!
At the halfway point of the show, we’re already seeing the benefits of many great new connections we’ve made in just two short days. We’ve met leaders from some of our key industries who have stopped to talk about the Greater San Marcos region’s assets and we look forward to nurturing those relationships over time.
Our regional partners from the city of Kyle joined us yesterday to talk about the area’s growth, both in population and industry! (Kyle from CO had to stop by and get a selfie with the city of Kyle, TX water tower!)
The SXTXState team, a unique project within the Graduate Program in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Texas State University, stopped by our booth and “went live” on Facebook with some members of Team GSMP. They use the skills they’re learning through their coursework to cover SXSW Interactive – a program that began in 2008!
We met two Public Relations majors from Texas State who stopped by to meet us and learn more about staying the Greater San Marcos region after graduation. We even met a high school student who has Texas State on her list of desired colleges.
GSMP Investors and San Marcos-based Grande Communications has been showcasing a band from San Marcos, Small Town Natives, at their booth. We appreciate that the band stopped by and we were excited to meet some of the folks that are cultivating our booming creative class. (We can truly say that they’re an example of a bigger inspiration behind the light up guitar pins!)
At the end of the day, we were delighted to meet Mr. Wynn and his students from the Madison-based non-profit, Go4It! The nonprofit's entrepreneurship training program, Wynn takes a small group of youth, between high school age and people in their early 20s, to the conference.
This conference is known for its convergence of music, film, and interactive. The last two days have further provided evidence to us that our region is poised for growth in all of those areas.
Now onward to Day Three! If you’re out and about at SXSW today, please stop by Booth #344.
